Best Ball League - Monday Update (Week 4)

Article Written by Gordo

Believe!

Another week down and another reason to love or hate the game of football...well fantasy football that is. But, whether your FF team(s) win or lose what really matters most is how well your doing in your money league(s). I think most of you are fortunate that this league isn't for money...while on the other hand some of us might have been able to put a few dollars back in our wallets. I must say I am surprised by Team Gordo this week as their sorry misfit team outscored 2nd place by 45 pts...sorry Team Juice but unless Gostkowski starts rushing or receiving for TDs better than any NFL player has, you're not catching me.

Best Ball League - Week 3 Recap

Article Written by Gordo

Is it really fair to say that Julio Jones was the best wide out this week? Many other receivers had far more challenging match-ups but still came out ahead.  Antonio Brown had a great game against Carolina.  Both Jeremy Maclin and Jordan Matthews had big games against Washington which gave them the win in the last minutes of the game.  Even Emmanuel Sanders was able to produce against an intimidating Seahawks secondary.  Pierre Garcon worked hard to keep WAS in the game against Philly. I guess I just saw an extreme split between receivers as they were either stellar or upset-tingly lack-luster.  But hey, Victor Cruz finally reached the end-zone so he could dance for his Grandma.

Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 4

Article Written by Gordo

So last week it seemed like everyone and their mother was heavy on Kihry Robinson RB of the Saints, and I cautiously reminded everyone that Pierre Thomas was still there and would take the lead role. Well his first week without Mark Ingram and Robinson performed marginally as maybe a flex play in PPR formats while Pierre Thomas scored the lone rushing TD and just barely out performed Robinson. To some this is being totted as a "Red Herring" but I'm not buying it. The Saints need to win right now and gain control of their division, they had lots of success with Pierre Thomas last season in a Sproles like role and I would expect the same to happen while Ingram is sidelined. Also, let's not forget how the Saints manage their past RBs; Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, Mark Ingram, and now Khiry Robinson. Either Thomas or Robinson will be interesting flex plays this week against Dallas though but you might be able to aim higher, just see for yourself. But enough about the Saints, lets look at who might be worth checking out this week.

I took the liberty of collecting the waiver pick lists from various mainstream channels (ie. Yahoo, ESPN, and NFL.com) and provided my own take on the value and likelihood of any of these players adding value to your roster.

Best Ball League - Monday Update (Week 3)

Article Written by Gordo

This week certainly has been disappointing for fantasy football. Injuries and off the field issues have continued to plague every format, every league, and every team. Just look at all the goose eggs that came from some of the best players in the league, of course some for obvious reasons:

Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 3

Article Written by Gordo

I typically don't condone rushing to the waiver wire to pick up the flavor of the week this early in the season. Case in point, Allen Hurns. This undrafted Free Agent (UDFA) came out of nowhere, scored two long TDs and everyone's like, "MY SAVIOR!" Now he's injured and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. This guy is owned in 52% of Yahoo Leagues, 16% in ESPN Leagues, and 40.8% in NFL.com Leagues, and I say let them have him. My first issue with this pick up is how anyone would bother to waste a waiver pick up on anyone from Jacksonville. Second, why anyone would see his performance against a mediocre Eagles secondary as anything more than a fluke, and lastly, reasons...the idea is too frustrating to continue with but I digress. The reason for this poor example of a waiver wire pick is to introduce the does and don'ts of this weeks waiver picks.

Before I get into it I want to clarify the types of waiver picks I see people making:

I have one word for you.  Sproles.  This guy just exploded all over the Colts.  I just wish he was on a team that mattered this week.

An open letter from the Commissioner of The Ultimate Ironbound Showdown (Week 2)

Article Written by Ziggy

All,

So I was in a group chat with my other league and was yelling at that commissioner to start doing a weekly update in that league. Then I realized I said I would do that here and haven't in like 48 weeks! Time to break down the action of last week (and some of this week).
